Disney Does It's Part To Help Save Our Earth

In honor of Earth Day today, I thought I'd do a blog entry tied to environmental awareness.
Since I can remember Disney has always been a company that has resonated with me as one that truly cared about making our world a better place to live. At the age of 11, I clearly remember watching a Disney Channel special documentary in celebration of Earth Day. It was unlike anything I had ever seen Disney do before. It was very honest and didn't hold back on bringing to light what mankind was doing to the planet: destroying it. It touched upon species of animals that were endangered and becoming extinct and even used the word global warming.

The most important thing it did was change me. It made me realize that we really did need to do something and it made me appreciate nature so much more than I did before. As an 11 year old after watching this special, I was ready to go out and save the planet all on my own. That one hour special inspired me.

Although the recent films from Disney Nature may not have as powerful of a message as I remember that documentary having (maybe it's because I was a kid), they bring awareness to just how precious every aspect of our earth is.
I honestly can't wait to see Disney Nature's latest installment tonight, African Cats. The fact that Disney will donate $0.20 from each movie ticket sold the first week to save the Savanna makes it even better!

According to the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, they have sold more than $1.7 Million in advance ticket sales which will help save approximately 9,500 acres of the Savanna.

Make sure to do your part today to help save the planet!

Magical Blogorail - My Least Favorite Disney Attraction

Welcome to those of you joining me from Magical Days with the Mouse and those of you who have just hopped aboard.  I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail.

I must start by saying that this was difficult. My least favorite Disney attraction? How could I possibly not like something related to Disney? As difficult as it was, I do have a least favorite Disney attraction and it was after Disney went and changed it.

Originally my favorite ride in all of Disney, Journey Into Imagination is now my least favorite attraction.

I miss the original ride and although I still love Figment, I just don't like what Disney did with the attraction. Instead of the friendly and happy Dreamfinder leading you on the journey, it is now a cold Dr. Nigel Channing. The cartoon version of Figment on the screens also changed with the ride upgrade.

The ride is now more about the science of things and the senses we experience. I feel as if a lot of the "imagination" and fun part of the ride disappeared when they revamped it.

Dreamfinder & Figment at Epcot

I guess this is part of the old saying all good things must come to an end, but Disney didn't really end it, they changed it. And why change a good thing?

I'm hoping one day Disney will bring back the original "Journey Into Imagination" so that the new generation of kids (and adults as well) can enjoy what I once thought was the best attraction.

Thank you for joining me today.  Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is A Disney Mom’s Thoughts.

Here is the map of our Magical Blogorail Loop should you happen to have to make a stop along the way and want to reboard:

Disney Memories - 2010 Epcot Flower & Garden Festival

Epcot, as you know, is one of my favorite Disney parks to visit. Here is a Disney Memory from a visit I took during last year's Flower & Garden Festival.

I can't wait to visit in a few weeks to see this year's topiaries. I got a preview at the end of February, but can't wait to see it all!

Anxiously Awaiting the New Race Announcement

With three new clues, I still have no idea...although it's fun to try and guess what the race might be, the fact that the clues are so hard make it more frustrating than exciting!

runDisney is already by clue # 8, so I'm hoping we'll have an announcement by the end of the week...

Below are clues 6-8...has anyone come up with anything yet? I've captioned by random thoughts on each clue.

Clue # 6: This makes me think it may be a WDW race because of its similarity to Florida's flag.
Clue 6

Clue # 7: Tower of Terror perhaps? Maybe it will take place or end at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Clue 7

Clue # 8: This clue also supports my thoughts of it taking place at Disney's Hollywood Studios...maybe a red carpet/movies theme.

A Disney Cake That Takes the Cake

A friend of mine recently celebrated her 2 year old son's birthday with a Disney themed party and after seeing the pictures of the cake, I can't help but share with all my fellow Disney fans!

The detail of this cake is spectacular and unlike any Disney cake I've ever seen before. I especially love how "fun" it looks. The edible confetti swirls and the way the buttercream was applied...I love it!

Of course my favorite part of the cake are the fondant mickey head cut outs.

Take a look for yourself...and then run to your nearest bakery and ask them to replicate it!

Since I love baking and of course Disney, I think I may try and make it myself! :)

Update on runDisney's Race Announcement Clues

I'm really trying to figure out what the upcoming race announcement is going to be by checking runDisney's Facebook page regularly, but unfortunately the more clues they give, the more lost I feel!

Anyone have any ideas with the latest clues? Not that any of them make any sense to me really, but the latest clue, clue # 5 has me completely stumped!

I'm hoping they will make the official announcement soon, because I honestly have not gotten any closer to figuring out what the new race is going to be!
